Feb Challenge Car Ideas

Hey
I wanted to consolidate any suggestions for the Feb Challenge car here.

So post em up, and as mentioned previously, all models MUST be done new for the challenge. No old projects. Oh, and like I said, I'm always open for some bribery  ;D ;D ;D

Lets see your thoughts.

Either one of those beasts would be a worthy challenge.  The RailGon would be fun too, but I've seen a lot of gons done lately and am a little burned out on them.  Didn't they do a gon challenge recently on Rick Divizio's site?

Mmm... Railgons.

I could even get in on that myself.

Good suggestion.

Anyone else?

If you can't make up your mind you could always do a flatcar and a hopper, hehe

Here's a car that I think would be fun to give a try. The ore car SSAM 234209 has a patch job, fading paint, peeling paint and some rust. It would work ;D

Not much weathering....maybe the flat car.... Anyway now I have to buy either the Athearn 5 car set or the Kato 8 car set just to do that one upside down car.

AWESOME PHOTO QUADK.....

As it stands now-if the B&O car is picked, very good probability I will enter this challenge!
(as long as decals are available-late hr here, haven't checked-always liked those cars!)

Jeff-came across that ex EL hopper in my research for one of my future projects (Atlas CR
Hopper) lol-yep, that's one for you IMO! Hope burning the midnite oil was productive for you!  8)

I'm kinda leaning toward the covered hopper.

I just want to make sure we haven't done one before.

A Canadian government cylindrical hopper would have far more range than the SSAM ore car. That brown scheme is the earlier one from the 1970s as well, the bold red "Canada" scheme didn't come in until the early 1980s.

That SSAM ore car certainly has gotten pretty dirty with iron ore dust. I see the words "SLAVE LAKE DIVISION" on the lower right of the car, which means these are ex-CN cars, and were originally bright _yellow_.

If I could find the disk from my trip in down to the port, I have shots of both sides of a covered hopper.

Anyone know what that coal hopper is? I see whole consists of them on the BNSF lines around here (not UP ones) but don't know who makes them, & haven't seen any models yet... ??

I should've clarified. I meant the B&O one.

I don't mind being a little general though, something like this:

A gray 2 or 3 bay covered hopper. Post your model with prototype photo.

How's that sound?
