The New D&H Historical Society

I am very excited to announce today's launch of a new historical society dedicated to the Delaware and Hudson Railway.

https://www.delawarehudson.org/

The most exciting thing about it, for me, is that it follows the ideas put forth in my hobby publishing white paper: http://hobbypublishing.edkapuscinski.com/

Membership is all managed via Patreon, and the "magazine" is a set of feature articles on the archive site: https://archives.delawarehudson.org/champlain-shield

The other primary member benefit is access to the organization's archives. They're always growing, but we're starting with an amazing collection of right of way maps.

Oh, and we have an RS-3: https://www.erieturntable.org/4085

It's all pretty cool.

@Ed Kapuscinski this is a great set up and I showed it to my wife who is working on similar projects with other types of groups.

I'd love to talk if she's interested.

Have you heard from them lately?

From what I've seen, they're basically dead.

Ed, fair point. From what I know a newsletter goes out, but I'm not sure what else they do. I'm glad to hear that a new D&H group stepped in to fill the void, and perusing the website, well organized with motivated people. Are you aware of any archives the old group had? I'd hate to see two competing archives given the digitizing efforts the D&HRHS is doing.

I don't know what they've got, but that's not my department.

If we get our hands on it I'll be importing it though.

I'd love it if the NSHS was to move in this direction.  RIght now, pretty much all of the interaction is done on Facebook, which I am not a fan of.  There's also two of us under 40, and three not at retirement age, which probably doesn't help.

I'm in, as soon as I figure out how Patreon works :?
I was a member of BLHS years ago, but stopped as it seemed to get less and less useful to me.
This looks like some new life has been introduced.
I have almost no need for modeling research anymore but I do still like to look at pictures.

I joined as a lot the traffic through the area of the PRR that interests me is bound for the Wilkes-Barre gateway and my great grandparents have connections to the railroad. I hope to see the archive build up over time.
