I’m still patiently awaiting ME C40 Flex and rail to build turnouts.
I’ve been in a 4-5 year doldrum because I just don’t want to build another C55 layout.
I need to get back to my bench and clean up some projects to help better bide my time.
After some reflection, it’s occurred to me that I maybe spent more time modeling in the past in order to spend less time with my Ex.   :D

Dave, saw your other thread and hope you have a speedy recovery from the upcoming surgery.

For my update this weekend/week, I started working on the recycle yard.  I really like the scrap metal made by Coastmans Scenic Products (https://www.coastmans.com/industrial).

The website doesn't indicate if they have N scale scrap. Or do I assume everything not labelled "HO" is N scale?

I got the impression from the website it was all HO but figured I could use small bits to make it more in scale for N. Same with the bins but the cars might be a stretch!

I finally test fit the project depot on Rob’s Tennessee Pass. Building it to scale still leaves lots of room more more of the buildings.

Then I started a much smaller project, the new Showcase Miniatures CJ5. As a Jeep owner, I love this kit. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I went to Jersey to see an old friend...

And came home with a priceless work of art.

Started weathering NS 2725, nothing drastic, just going for that used look.

While I had the oils out I started dirtying up this Atlas 5701cuft hopper.

With the oils needing to dry I got NS 3329 back out and sprayed some paint. All done with Tru Color.

What a great little story there Ed.  The link to DKS modelling chronology provides for some fascinating reading into all that he has been dealing with, and his new emerging philosophies on life and ‘the hobby’.  Quite the guy!

I finally got around to dull coating some Scale Trains PS4785 covered hoppers that I renumbered.  Two oxide red Conrail cars (class 138H) were renumbered, two Penn Central cars (class H54A) were renumbered to road numbers that were still running around in full PC paint for my chosen time frame (June 1984) and two paint out Conrail ex PC (class H54A) cars.  My only gripe with these cars is the tendency for the running boards to come unglued and some of the grab irons falling off during my handling and prepping of the cars.  I have an extra NYC car (138H) and an extra PC car (H54) that will be used as parts donors to replace the missing parts.  These cars are truly exquisite models.  Thanks.
