Not living its best life: MTTX 98202, a Thrall car broadly similar to Micro-Trains' recent release. Built in April of '76 for TTX as a class TSH62 general service flat.

Not living its best life: MTTX 98202, a Thrall car broadly similar to Micro-Trains' recent release. Built in April of '76 for TTX as a class TSH62 general service flat.

Judging from the car next to it - at least an 8-axle heavy flat - this car is living out its days as an idler flat. I'm surprised, however, that the decking hasn't been addressed somehow as a safety hazard to crew members who may want to step across it while supervising loading/unloading on the heavy carrier.

The two quiet zones in the Salt Lake metro area were disqualified on October 1st for deficiencies regarding new FRA rules and we now get to hear train horns at all crossings at all times of the day. I've noticed that some engines are louder than others. I live about 2 miles from the closest crossing and there are times I think they are just around the corner.
