Getting All "Snooty" About It

Received an e-mail from ScaleTrains yesterday alerting me to the immediately pending arrival of the two SP SD40T-2 models I ordered early this year. Shane said at the recent local Road Trip presentation the factory was ahead of schedule on these and to expect them before Christmas.

I think the original estimate was 1Q2025. Three months early? Unheard of.

I missed my email and checked and I have it, too. My wallet is not happy - especially since I figured these were a ways off.

I am pleasantly surprised they have come in so early!

Doesn't that violate a law of N scale physics?  Delivery = (Promised date) + mC2/160
They are going to lose their seat at the Manufacturer's Breakfast for delivering early.   Makes everyone else look bad.

I have also noticed this trend with Scaletrains, while it is good to get them it kinda breaks my ordering pattern. We've been so used to Manufacturers delaying that when one delivers early it's a shock. Maybe this is a sign of things to come! (he says enthusiastically)

Well I hope so. I was giving Shane a hard time about all the UP-specific models, especially pointing-out that we really don't have a recently-tooled proper caboose to go with the turbines. He deflected this with "no budget for tooling right now", but in the next breath mused about DD35s and DDA35s. I'd be all over those, too, just like I'm soon to empty my bank account on their GP30s.

The earlier than expected deliveries makes the operating department happy, but it throws the accounting department into fits. And when the CEO finds out....  :scared:

Just got a surprise from scaletrains - forgot I’d preordered a pair of tunnel motors and the email from ST arrived concurrently to my card notifying me about the charge…

Ok, I gave in and ordered SP 8320 "as delivered.  :o

They were sold out at ST, but Lombard still has some.

I would have prefered #8340, but damn  :D

My SP unit (8320) arrived today as well, and it is absolutely stunning! :o

I think ST is now the leader of the pack in N scale diesel locos.

I think I can do that after mine arrive tomorrow. IM version is on the layout. Obviously I need to locate its original jewel box sometime soon since I absolutely know it's shortly to be history.

Incidentally, I modded the IM to have a working Gyralight simulation. But I have to say, @Specter3 's close-up pix of the SP rear light package blows my mind.

They look really nice in the pics above but that coupler height mismatch with them backed up to each other is a bit concerning…
It looks like the fuel tank sits level and the truck sideframes appear to be snapped in tight with no sagging either…
