Rapido GE 44-Tonner

Nobody has said much about these.  Of course, they are HO-Scale so that's probably part of the reason.  I knew these were coming but got surprised on Facebook by someone posting in the Friends of the Arcade & Attica page that they had them available.  These are a special commission by HobbyTyme of the A&A #111.  It's the A&A's second purchased GE 44-tonner after #110 in 1941.  The 111 is a 1947 Phase IV specimen which the railroad bought after 110 was put in the shops due to a washout/derailment.

So... In a moment of weakness, I bought one.  Gosh, but it's a beautiful model.  I don't know how well it runs since I have no HO track and don't know anyone (local) that does but it will look good on display.  Rapido really packaged it well , too.  No way anything could get knocked about.  Of course, it's small so that helps.

It makes me wish they would do it in N-Scale but I doubt they will since Bachmann had it's version with a new run coming out soon.

Here are the pictures that got me to buy one.

The dealer was Makin' Tracks.  They have a Facebook presence and a web site.  If anyone might want one I think they still have some available.  Apparently HobbyTyme only made 50 of the A&A.  They also have a Sacremento Northern HobbyTyme release.
