. . . with their decoders, and they are jumping right into the latest advances.

They are making sound decoders with the ESU's E24 interface!  I never thought I would see the day.

Even thought I don't have the best experience with their sound decoders (even the 7th generation), having other DCC manufacturers (and even domestic ones) embrace the E24 standard gives hope that it will become one of the official "standard" connectors.  I have a feelign that DIgitrax jumped on the E24 bandwagon because Atlas chose to use E24 connectors (not Next18) in their N scale models.
