I poo-pooed the idea at first but if you buy a couple of loco's from the outlet store, it pays for itself. The extra year of warranty is nice as well. 30 bucks isn't that much anymore.

Would be nice if they gave us some idea of what the "exclusive models" are.  If they are truly new models that would interest me (i.e., N scale steam), then I would be interested.

I remember when Atlas tried this a decade ago.

It wasn't the smartest idea then, and it isn't the smartest idea now.

All I could think of when I read the first post is, "We've been trying to reach you about your N Scale locomotives warranty. "
And I think that this might actually work for them since it would extend extend warranty given the issues folks have had regarding BLI locomotives. It's not enough to entice me to purchase any more of their products. I do own 4 freight cars that I have no problems with. But no locos.

The comments on their Facebook page are roasting them for this.  Was there ever a reason given for why the Reading T1s were delayed?

It’s unbelievably lame. Just like the sneakers, and the water tower with sound. Makes me recall the classifieds in the back of Mad magazine back in the 60s where you, too, could get some sort of amazing premium by joining their “club”.

What? No streaming TV channel? No free shipping? No 2 day delivery? No bonus point program?

I think the success of this will hinge on the loco offering- if this is gonna net you a Merry Christmas E7 or USRA Mike it's gonna flop bad.

But if this will net you something with one off tooling, like an MKT E7 with the side fluting, or MP E7's with portholes, or one of the steamers they have only made in HO, like the ATSF 2-8-2's it will be successful.

At $360/yr, depending on the number of subscribers it might even support whole new tooling, not just mods to existing tooling...
