Completed the fictitious NYC 685 wedge plow, and now finalizing the modified gondola Erie wedge plow for a client. Both were specified by the client directly and are non prototypical. Surprisingly, there are few prototype images, knowing how resourceful and cheap railroads could be. The latter will get a spicy yellow and black Erie livery when complete (sorry @Chris333 ).

The latest efforts on CR 10.  Confirmed ride height, coupler height, threaded bolster and coupler pocket holes, and car weight.  Forgot to finish roof detail such as the roof seam, rain gutters and rooftop vents, and forgot to finish the obs porch.  Did those tonight, hopefully the next print will be a complete one.

I'm loving the DLP printer though.  I'm finally able to render at the quality level I expected.

Richie:  I noticed they left off Grand Funk Railroad, unless it's on the other side.  I wonder if anyone has named their model railroad Grand Funk?

Bryan:  If that's the way it looks straight from the printer, I'd say 3D printing is finally mainstream.  My biggest complaint has been the cleanup, as sanding around details is no fun, and removing supports from brittle material is worse.

Your business car print looks amazing; well done.  I need to do a BCR business car at some point which is somewhat similar in style to yours, so 3D printing likely the best way to go.

How will you do the windows?

I will usually try to remove the supports before curing ..

How will you do the windows?

I haven’t had success yet in 3D printing window glass, so probably just clear styrene on the inside walls, which are only about .030” thick. Or, I could mill the windows out of Atlas jewel box lids. That’s what I did for the Erie bay window caboose that @Chris333 started and I finished. The Atlas box lids are clear as glass.

A pair of high-quality flush-cut nippers makes quick work of the supports. I use fine supports with .3mm contact points, so they remove easily from cured parts without chipping. I nip around the edges of the model and small details. All the internal build supports (such as those attached to the inside face of the roof, and the floor top, and the interior bottom), I snap off by hand en masse.  It took under 20 minutes to remove the supports from CR 10, all three components.

Just for the fun of it, last night I added a cab light to an F3:



I've also been working on getting the track painted and ballasted around the tunnel entrance so that I can start to glue all of the foam in place that makes up the mountain, which will let me move on to carving the foam:

Also got around to printing the Scenicruiser chassis, with modular front wheels rotated ten degrees in either direction. My Scenicruisers will be stationary at the Greyhound bus terminals in the train stations as opposed to in transit, so I’m not modeling the wheels in the straight position.

Awesome prints Bryan! What model printer do you have? Also what resin are you using?  Disregard. I found your post in the 3D printing section on your printer purchase.
