Lombards Midnight Madness Sale

Anyone go on Lombards Midnight Madness online sale? They had shut the website down until 12:01cst. So I stayed up until 1am est to check it out. Waste of good sleep time. Did not see anything on sale other than their normal everyday sale prices. VERY disappointment. Anyone have a different experience?

I emailed them and asked where the deals were. I did see a couple old in stock items I think were at a reduced price compared to previous listings, but most items seemed to have their regular Lombard price. There isn't a link to a sale section that I could find.

It's odd that the website still states that both the brick and mortar and the online stores are closed until each event starts.  Almost like the online sale never started....

Yup. Did the same thing. Looked this morning and still didn’t see the sale.

Definitely a puzzler.  After midnight, their home page did have a link to a few sale items, but nothing worth staying up for.  I did pick up a few more LokPilot decoders, after clearing out their stock a week earlier.  So that was worth staying up for.  ;)

Nothing really jumped out like I was hoping. But did grab handful of cheap NJT MOW gondolas and an Atlas BNSF crude train box.

But you had a chance to meet Ken Patterson at the store.

They are getting roasted over on their facebook page.  No one got anything like the 70% off things like they advertised.

It was madness to stay up until midnight for this sale...truth in advertising.

Ken is certainly an enthusiastic ambassador for the hobby.

As a gadfly, I'm sure he's a bit much to take for more than a few minutes, but as a modeler, he seems to produce some pretty good stuff.  I've watched a few of his "What's Neat" videos, and frankly, they're insufferable.  But his tutorials and project videos are kind of interesting.

As for the advertising snafu, these things happen.

I stayed up and was very disappointed. I had a list of many pieces of HO rolling stock that was well over the $450 threshold for free shipping. I had previously checked prices at Midwest ModelRR, Hiawatha Hobbies and Spring Creek. So I knew if it was a good deal to compare with. Purchased nothing by 1AM and went to bed.

I did buy around noon on Sunday some 5 unit well car sets for some weathering clients that were discounted nicely, but not even 50% let alone 70%.

A sale like this leaves me wondering are they getting ready to close (but if so why have Ken P there) or it’s being sold? I had briefly thought I would make the 115 mile trek but after seeing those lines out the door on Facebook glad I didn’t.
