I'm looking at a '40s-'early '50s version which resembled this
The sign would have to be spaced out to cover the entire front of the store. The letters can be slightly raised or look as though they were applied letter by letter, and thus thicker.
This is the kitbashed DPM building for it -- the first floor front will be replaced with the glass and low stone sill, and the recessed doorways, of the post-war remodelling.
3D printing seems the way to go, but if I could find small plastic letters and glue them on that would work, too.
