CSX 1976 has been released from the paint shops in Waycross.  The Conrail Heritage unit.  @Ed Kapuscinski

I like it!  Probably because of a dark blue to a lighter blue transition.  Less abrupt than some of the other dissimilar color transitions.

..... Ok..... now that I have that out of my system..
I like that they did the Quality scheme..

But the Q is too big and looks out of proportion from the rest of the logo..

And they REALLY need to transition the frame stripe to match the two paint schemes...

Ok, first off Conrail had no GEVO's so total foob here. Second... :trollface:

I like the CR part, but I don't like the CSX part. I'm torn here, but imo the NS CR heritage unit was the proper way to go.

I generally like it. It could've been far worse.

I feel like they over-corrected on logo size from the Chessie unit, but I'll take it.

The Q logo is fitting since that's what the majority of its closest relatives (the C40-8Ws) wore. Plus, it's a nice contrast from the NS unit.

I've give it 4 can openers out of 5.

Good to see they've got a Conrail heritage unit now too.

I think NS did their heritage units best, UP hired some graphic designer with no attachments to the RRs and they came out looking horrible...
CSX on the other hand... I just have no words... kind of  like hey lets make sure people know that these are OUR trains... which is really disappointing considering how well their EMS and Veteran units turned out, especially 911 that damn thing screams Fire Truck. Though I may take back what i said on the Veterans unit, its almost like the guy that designed that one is the same one currently designing the Heritage units....

side note, If BNSF does some... IF They do anything but Superfleet (or warbonnet) on a wide cab I'll lose my shtt.

Back to Confail...  Conrail*  Yeah I'd have to agree that the logo is super inaccurate... almost like someone accidently clicked on BOLD and sent it... Also... which Blue did CSX use? because in some lighting, it looks wrong.
The sill stripe I believe has to be the same color all the way due too FRA regs.



*also confail fans, sorry not sorry, some vapid fans really turned me off of that pretty blue.

I'd be interested to see how it looked flipped, with the long hood in CSX and the cab done for Conrail. This is far too shiny and both blues seem too dark, but that might just be the indoor lighting.

CSX should hire the guy who designed the Scale Trains decorated company units. None of these heritage units leave a warm fuzzy feeling.

The Pride in Service motors were designed by Tyler Hardin, a railfan. He also designed the new OCS scheme. Eventually things went south, and now we can see the difference. There were even plans in place for the L&N XR scheme to be brought back on a modern engine too before everything went down the drain.
