Alaska is big with the casual and international crowd. I guess partly contributed by the TV show and bold scheme.

I never knew.

I often see Proto HO Alaska F7s on eBay along with lots of Proto Great Northern F7s (Green and Orange). It is almost as if Walthers misjudged the demand for the GN units.

WM units might be slow sellers due to paint being wrong.

Unfortunately, some things may never change.

They are consistent over the years, in SO many ways. 😂

You guys are better than I. What's wrong with the WM paint? Besides not being the black version I want ?

Thew wiring looks much neater than in the prototype!  What's with the DIP switch pack on the top?  Probably to turn off some lights?

Thanks for the photo. Is that a DC/DCC/or sound model?

I am curious where the speaker is (or goes)...

Meh... If you produce them that way long enough, people will start to think the prototype was wrong.  :D

Like the misplaced cab interior in Athearn Genesis F units which is placed too far back yielding those weird "storage bins" on the "dashboard" right behind the front windows...

Now I'm getting curious about the WM units. I need to find some prototype photos and see if I can spot the differences.

Curved vs straight red demarcation on the nose side by the balck stripes?

Before everyone goes off the deep end it should be noted -none of the new IM units in WM have been seen in the "wild".

Manufacturers Photo's:

IRL:
"Long Wings"

"Short Wings"

I have a buddy that checked them out at LHS I work at.  Paint is indeed as shown in product photo.

That's a bummer. Looks like they didn't curve the black stripes either so that they appear straight. How's the red shade?  The B unit could still be useable.

This is a nice illustration of why I stopped preordering from IM - their paint & lettering QA has not been as good as it should be recently.  At least they got the right font on this one.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
