Hey, @Chris333 , what material did you use for your free-standing backdrops?

On the tiny layout it is just a sheet of matboard after I gave it an S curve. This has Trackside Scenery backdrops glues to it. The bigger layout it is 1/8"hard board with paint.

Matboard? Is that the common name? Just wondering what specifically to search for.

Ordered some of the Marsh Creek cars from Mount Blue Model Co.

They're 20 feet, so not only great for the cartoonishly tight curves I plan, but won't overpower the Minitrains stuff I've already ordered.

I still need to come up with a name for this thing!

Matboard is that stuff up put around the border of photos when you frame them. They sell it in whole sheets. Think maybe it's call Strathmore, Idunno. It is about 1/16" thick.

They're here!

Need to fix the cab of the Porter and the tender of the 0-4-0, but this is the stuff right out of the box:

Almost! They clear the Woodland Scenics tunnel portals, but the whistle on the F&C engine doesn't clear the blasted rock tunnel portal.

Also, I ordered an 8-wheel tender on Shapeways for the 0-4-0, but what can be done about that tippy tender in the meantime? I see what it tilts and lurches...the four-wheel truck is actually on a swivel, presumably to allow for tighter radius curves than I plan to use. Can I tighten it up without causing derailments? I mean...I could always just try it, LOL.

The mail car came with a broken (missing) smoke jack. Will probably swap it out for another from The Original Whistle Stop. Maybe the smoke jack is in Puerto Rico...

Sketching out plans… it’s pretty clear I’m thinking too “traditionally.” Most of the structures on this plan represent structures I have or plan to build and are true to scale. The curve radii and track centers are also true. 10 small d quarts per foot.

It’s looking too crowded.

It looks busy as a whole, but not like this:

About the tender Idunno I never used one. I had like 3-4 of them I gave away. But if the screw is loose you should be OK to tighten. Or better yet get a Kato passenger truck and stick it under there with the pick-ups wired to the motor.

Possibly put the siding on the other side of the freight house and slide the road closer. Trucks or wagons would be loading off the road side.

Oh yeah get some Cripplebush rubber rocks!
