BLI Reading T-1 Updates
« on: April 14, 2023, 11:23:15 PM »

Broadway Limited dropped some pre-production pictures of the Reading T-1 on Facebook today.  They also announced lower prices for it and the "Stealth" version.  But wait, there's more!  They are also adding smoke (to the Sound version)     At least the lower price is nice.  The BLI web site isn't updated with the new price as of yet, though the Production Schedule page was updated yesterday and the T-1's are now due November 2023*.

The news was also sent out as a news email with a web version here --> http://editor.ne16.com/vo/?FileID=368f48b2-e3da-4f4c-898c-bb9d2854dad1

I believe I stripped all the trackers off of it.

Now the big question for me is should I get the Conrail fantasy scheme since I'll be stripping the shell off for a C&O Greenbrier makeover?

* Which would appear to mean that the PRR steam that was hinted at won't be due until at least 2024  :(

Oh the humanity! I would think that in consideration for @Ed Kapuscinski , you should just get the undecorated version.  ;)

Did they say what the lower MSRP is for the locomotives?  I received the email as well, but did not see any numbers.

I think the PRR H10 will be the next PRR loco offered.  My contact at BLI did say it was possible that would be a 2024 release.

The website still says $349 for stealth and $499 for sound and...  :scared: smoke

The way I read the email it sounded like the sound MSRP was going to be reduced.

I was going to order sound, but with the addition of smoke, the cost reduction of stealth is REALLY tempting.

~Ian

Sound is now $449, Stealth is still $349 which coincides with the Diesel price gap.

Not in the email or FaceBook post.  I assume (if I read it right) it will come on the web site in a few days.

That's the way I read it too.  Probably a day or so next week the web site will be updated.

Looks like 2024 is the earliest now. Unless they are doing a stealth release and have already tooled it for production.  But given how they have been posting just about everything new in the schedule page well before they are due I expect not.  But it would make sense since I just accidentally picked up a second Key PRR H9s on Ebay.  How does one accidentally buy a $500 loco?  Well you make the minimum bid with a week to go and assume someone will bid against you.  They didn't.   So now I have a second H9s.  To compound the stupidity, it's the same road # as my first one.  At least the price was good.  I would have thought for sure someone would bid more than $478.88...

My source said that the H10 will be next, and did indicate that it might be pushed to 2024 due to all of the other releases this year.  He stated the J1 would be after that.  Looks like the I1 will be last of the major PRR steam to be released, which is disappointing.  I wish an I1 would be released next.

I'm tempted to get the Conrail one, honestly.

It's not as crazy as it seems: https://archives.thecrhs.org/object/2020002004-conrail-t1-4-8-4-2101-locomotive-concept-painting-original-watercolor-bob-lorenz

But I also want the BM&R one for excursions too.

However, these are big bites for "that's kinda cool" stuff.

Yeah.. this video and anyone who visits RBMN should sell a few of those..

I emailed @MTLJoe the suggestion that they produce Heavyweight runner packs to compliment the T-1 but not sure if that idea got past the production committee.  I sent photos of RBMN, Chessie Steam Special along with the Conrail drawings.
RBMN is kind of a no brainer...

Very nice! I'd get a set of RBM&N heavyweights and a T-1.  They pull a heck of a train with it.  No wonder the drivers slipped a few times when starting up.

I'd be good with an H8/9/10 or the I1 next or as the next two.  But they also need to do others like the L1 and the G's would be really nice.

After how well they did with the Y6b I really would like them to do a C&O H-8 but I don't suppose that would happen.

How about starting an "I want an I1" rant like the old "I want a K4"

I1, H10, J1 - I don't mind what order they are released, as long as they all get made and with see-through drivers please.

I want the old one from the 80s though.

Sadly, the new one rolled out of the paint shop like the week after they had to commit to paint schemes on this run. They said the modern one is DEFINITELY going to be coming in the future though.

Isn't that the version they are doing?  Blue Mountain & Reading Tender

vs today's Reading and Northern Tender?

... Odd that you mention they wouldn't add it because I believe the locomotive was released with the new scheme before they added Conrail (and unlettered).

Wish I had known that I would have asked them to add the new scheme too.
