The stealth F units are only $50 less than the Paragon4 version, and don't come in a powered-A + dummy-B pair like the Paragon4 do.
So, the minimum price for an A-B-A set is the same either way (but with a dummy B for the Paragon version).

At least there are some savings for steam locos.

That is good news, I looked at the Reading T1 and they list the P4 version at 499.99 MSRP and Stealth at 349.99 MSRP so 150 less. With usual "discounts" you should be able to pick up a DCC ready Reading T1 for around 280 bucks. With that said though, the F units are msrp of 209 for the stealth. That puts them around 165-170 for a dcc ready loco.

That means I can get 4 for the price of 3 Reading T1's.  Works for me.

This morning I had an email from BLI about the Stealth Series, and I had a chuckle.  Looks like someone sent it out before it was ready.  Leave it to BLI  . . .   Lorem Ipsum  might look like real text, but it is gibberish.

But the nice part is that on their website they talk about a Next18 connector for N scale and not a 6 pin connector. And they also mention that the Reading T1 will come with speaker. Should be an easy conversion.

That is an excellent news, but as usual we (including me) posted a plethora of comments about their original choice of 6-pin DCC. I wonder if that information was correct, but BLI decided at the last minute to use Next18, or was the initial info inaccurate from the start.

That would be fabulous if that's the case. I'm standing by to hear if/when they will have the P4-compatible "stealth" board available separately so I can convert my RSD-15s. I've done one (of four) with my own Next18 socket, and while it runs great, it was a PITA to rewire. There are three more ESU LokPilot 5s with Next18 plugs on the workbench standing by for any developments on this front.

On the BLI web site there links to two different documents describing the Stealth models. One document says 6-pin for N-scale and shows a drawing of circuit board for that, the other says Next18  with a circuit board drawing for that.   No dates on either document.

It looked like the next 18 board is going into the diesels, I didn't see the document about the 6 pin, but my assumption is there are fewer lights on a steamer so in their eyes, they don't need as many wires.

I did find the document with the 6 pin, but I think they changed from the original 6 pin to the Next18. The stealth main page connects to a document with Next18 connector while the direct link at the individual locos points to a version with 6 pin connector. Except for the N scale board the 2 documents look the same. Given that both boards have the same dimensions I would expect the Next18 is the latest version. Price wise I think there is no real difference and the link to the main stealth page is also accessible from every individual loco, so I guess that was the easiest to do. Changing the direct links requires going through every page.

I did a cut and paste into Google Translate and it told me it detected Latin and proceeded to translate it into "English".  I didn't think BLI was such into the Literature Humanities.  What next, a William Shakespeare road name?

That gibberish is Ipsum Lorum.  My original post has a link to an explanation.
