Scale trains hasn't released much of interest to me personally. I passed on the C39-8, though one could see them between Montreal and Toronto in the late 90's paying back HPH for CN power on Montreal - Selkirk trains... actually I saw just about everything CR rostered in terms of road power in Toronto back then (except 70 and 80MAC's). If they re-ran them I'd spring for one.

The carbon black cars are something of interest and I have a small fleet of them... these were most appreciated

The PS 4785 is also a pretty nice car.

If they ever did an accurate CP SD40-2 it could get pretty scary for me wallet wise.

Obligatory agreement post. As someone who models a New England road in the pre Penn Central era in N, Scale Trains ain't even on my radar. It's a shame when reputable companies don't have enough product diversity to even get my attention.

Their GEVO T4 models are superb.  The most abundant prototype is a smart choice to stay in business IMO.   They run beautifully and have lots of variants.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't complaining. And in a big way it's good that they don't do a lot of stuff for my era of interest / locale, this is an expensive hobby and I have weak will power when it's on my 'need it' list. The carbon black cars are a real must have for me, and they're really nice cars.

I get that they're indispensable for the contemporary modeler, they're everywhere. But those things are most of the reason I don't do much railfanning anymore, just too common and about as interesting as a pail of gravel

LOL, fair enough.  If they want to stay in business and in N scale, I think they need to focus on items that will sell well, offer schemes for repeated runs, and are good quality products.  The GEVOs might bore some folk, but they are the present and future of modern rail and there are going to be a lot of them in use.  I hope Scale Trains wears out the tooling making variants and selling lots.  They run very well, look great and they are making it possible to build a fleet.  For those who tire of GEVOs, all I can say is I don't come to your product threads and complain about "another GP or RS model" 

I just had my Scale Trains order get lost by the postal system.  They pushed the buttons to find it and get it rolling again, and got me a missing detail parts bag very quickly afterwards.  All with great communications.  Really a great company to deal with.

I agree it's a great strategy to do those evil GEVO's and TEVO's given their total dominance out there in the real world. Been a thing on the rails since what, 2007? I have hope that we will, in time, see Scale Trains release more n scale SD40-2's, maybe see some accurate CP Rail one's, possibly the SD40-2W (because the intermountain is very awesome paperweight).

I'm glad that it's not right now however, Rapido has a fair chunk of my modeling budget tied up in future deliveries of Procor 5820's and barrel ore cars

They shipped me six HO GEVO's in error a few months back. I had ordered six or seven n scale carbon black cars. I alerted them to the error and send me return labels, but never actually thanked my for being honest... that was a $1400 error in my favor vs under $200 that I actually ordered. And no, I didn't return them because they were GEVO's lol.

Thanks John for posting this . An awesome inside to the foot steps and troubles in getting a top notch " run 8+ " model from thought egg to completion . I have their latest N scale Big Blow 1 , and am so glad they did it in as delivered lettering .
