2023 EBT Winter Spectacular

The EBT has gotten #16 up and running, and since I owe my dad a trip out to Orbisonia, we're heading out for the Winter Spectacular.

Anyone else heading out to the wilds of Western Central PA to see 3' steam running?

Unfortunately, no, but I was there 40 years ago, and rode it.

Have my tickets for Saturday, and the return to steam adds the icing on the cake

I hope the town knows what to expect, and then double that expectation.  Rt 522 is going to be a parking lot north of town with cars parked on the shoulder with people getting out or set up to capture the perfect photo.

We scouted things out today.

There was a plume of steam coming from the yard as we drove into town, and even though we missed 16 being put away by a few minutes it still gave me goosebumps.

That picture of the yard looks better than some active standard gauge track I've seen.

Got home a few hours ago.

It was truly incredible.

And bonus! I got to meet @MPA86 ! Always a blast meeting other

And in spite of  the freshly painted loco, there's nothing in the scene that says "restored" or "museum".  The cars are weathered enough that it looks like "just another work day on the railroad".

It was a great day to be riding on Saturday, weather was cool, but crystal clear skies. Great to meet you, Ed, and was happy to be part of the return to steam on the EBT.  Plus had a chance to ride #163, the trolley saved from the York trolley line, which ran through my area till 1939.
