ME Code 40 joiners?

Hi;
Recently got restocked on ME code 40 joiners and beginning to wonder if I got code 55 in a code 40 labeled package. These things are huge, I don't mean the length as I cut them in half, but the height. Much higher than earlier joiners when I compare the joint to earlier track work. I actually have to file the tops down to keep my wheels from riding up on them. I anyone seeing this in newer purchases?

I haven't ordered any in years, but from your description, I'd agree that you got the wrong size.

When I was laying my track, 25 years ago, they didn't have the code 40 joiners, so I used code 55 joiners on the code 40 track.  Even then, I didn't have to file them down, as long as I had reasonable flanges.  Pizza cutters didn't like them, but I'd already gotten rid of most of those.

Yes, I am beginning to think I have some mislabeled joiners. Also noted that some of them seem to have a notch about 1/3 of their length, while others have no notches. Has anyone seen that?

Not on a ME joiner.  Some brands did have them, in the 70s and early 80s, but that was the last time I bought code 80 joiners.  I never liked those, because they tended to bend in the middle.  If I wanted vertical kinks at my joints, I could do that myself!
