I'll be headed off to Garmisch Germany soon. Anyone know of any rail museums there or near by.  My part of the trip is tag along so I must keep myself busy for ten days over there.

Well, the 'Deutsche Museum' in Munich could keep you occupied for days, but railroad is just a small part. There are lots of other technical things.

Never been in Europe, but:

The Hans-Peter Porsche railroad (Traumwerk) museum in Anger, Germany, is about a two-hour drive away. Professionally-executed model railroad and an extensive collection of toy train and railroadiana. Oh. And Porsche racing cars.

Sadly, Miniatur Wunderland is at the opposite (north) end of the country. If you have that much time to kill it might be worth the flight to see if you don't otherwise expect another opportunity to be there.

I think Garmish has a  museum dedicated to the mountain railway but we didn’t have time to stop there as we were headed up to ski. I would consider riding up the cog or new tramway to the Zugspitze if you are in town.

Thanks for the heads up. We're leaving the 27th.  I found out today that I'll going paragliding in Austria. They said to dress warm. I used to have an ultralight and I skydive. This should be fun.   I would like to see the Matterhorn, 8hrs away.  I'll post what train type things I seen when I return.

Have fun.

Yeah take some warm clothing. Here in the middle of Germany we have 12°F right now.

Just read about that museum on wikipedia and it looks like they have a great model railroad there. I know someday I want to see the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg.

Yeah, there is nothing like the Miniatur Wunderland.
