What dimension scale lumber for a stick-built trestle, N scale?

Yessir.

1) I have (had, since hardened) an Earth Colored latex paint mixed to my color spec.  (I'll need to have more made)
2) A very fine layer of Woodland Scenics Earth Blend, not concerned with complete coverage.
3) Woodland Scenics Honey Fiber just dropped on as a result of being rolled between my thumb and forefinger.
4) Sprinkled dried ground up Fall Colored Maple and Oak leaves, including stem pieces and detritus.
5) Strategic placement of some Scenic Express Late Fall Tufts.

That's about it.

I used 1/16" square basswood for the posts on my N scale trestles. It comes out to pretty close to 12x12. The girts and sway braces used HO scale 2x6, looking more like 4x12 in N.

I’ve used 1/16” thick basswood also, but instead of buying the square shapes, I’ve used a 1/16” X 4” basswood plank and using a scribe-like wood splitter with the blade set to 1/16”, split off individual square shapes. These are not as uniform as the manufactured squares, but as long as you’re careful, they’re close enough for bridge work as the uprights were typically rough sawn and not run through a planer.

Rough Sawn lumber is pretty danged accurate, since the 30’s anyway.
