Weekend update: Supertrees finally arrived and I took a stab at it. They weren't difficult to do just took some time with all the prep, painting and finally foliage. I was at first having a difficult time with the super leaf getting it to stick. I found that coarse ground foam was the ticket from woodland scenic. I then used Heki yellow and orange leaf mix to try and get my leaves changing colors. Let me know what you think. I redid my entire hillside after I finished making the super trees. What a huge difference I can see.

I think it looks much better now. You may even be able to go over some of the old stuff with the newer colors.

BTW the next overpass to the West at Breakneck Creek is where the P&O canal went through. I think the B&O built right on top of it in some places. At one point the B&O re-did their mainline to straighten it out. Here is a quick map I did:

I've made forests instead of trees.  Too many to do individually, modelling woods where the trunks are < 20 feet apart and foliage is solid, not open woodland at all.  Cut 3" pieces of various gauge wire spray painted gray, drilled holes and glued those and river birch twigs for the trunks.  Then added dirt and chopped dried leaves for forest floor, plus twig bits for fallen timber.  Then batting painted black across the top, then glued on WS clusters and coarse grass.  Getting the clusters to stay on the edges of the batting until the glue dries is the hard part.

Added some of my recycled WS trees too, and I have a box of super trees for foreground work - winter project.
