I'm amazed at how quickly this has been built. If it were me I'd have taken 5 years to get to this point.

It will slow down a bit next week; I start my beginning band students on Monday and then we're back to school towards the end of August.

Trying to get as much done before that when my free time won't be as abundent.

I've been following this thread with interest.  Your layout and mine are very close in proximity.  I'm modelling the CNW in the early 1950's between Elroy and Harvard, IL.  You're moving much faster than I am.  I only have track laid in Elroy and Reedsburg...

Am I right in thinking, that the Morning and Afternoon Hiawatha travelled on these rails your layout represents?

Thomas  :)

Yes - the eastbound and westbound trains met at New Lisbon each day.  They also met with the  North Woods Hiawatha that ran up the valley line to Wausau and beyond.  Pretty neat to have that many high class passenger trains meeting at the same time in the middle of nowhere (that doesn't include the Fast Mail and other passenger service that blew through town at over 60 mph).

The track is complete in New Lisbon.  The only remaining track to install is finishing up the staging yard.

I finished most of the staging yard this weekend including the locomotive storage tracks. I put an extra turnout in on the west end of the yard so I could put a few extra storage tracks on the lift out section (still need to lay the track on that section). You can never have enough staging tracks, right?

What a awesome read!
Being from Wisconsin, I love that you are giving its proper dues! If I ever get to have a home layout, it will be the Soo from north FDL to points south, to include Byron Hill in the 70’s. Watching the latest video, I kept thinking,,” this would make great FreemoN sections/ modules!

I love where you’re going with the option to have the tanks, halftracks, and trucks either loaded or unloaded.  And your flatcar decks are looking great!

I was looking at doing a similar thing in G after finding R/C 1:30 scale M4A3 Sherman tanks, but it didn’t get very far.  The cost to have a reasonable looking tank factory would have been impossible for me.  Your nice amount of vehicles makes the scene seem purposeful and more complete, far more so than just the couple random tanks that I have!
