I'm going to end up with a similar layout over workbench situation eventually. Still in the idle thought stages, but what is the height from the floor to the rail and from the floor to the bottom of the facia?

Really like the workspace.  I just cleared mine off a little...  We're expecting company tomorrow night... I better get back on the rest of it!  You've inspired me!

Better model railroading through peer pressure!

The railhead height is 58" from the floor and it is about 52" from floor to bottom of fascia.  I am 6'4" tall and this works well for me.  The layout shelf over the paint station is 24" deep and the shelf over the main workstation is 32" deep.  That keeps the table front edges flush with the fascia and prevents me from hitting my head.

Life has been crazy lately, so I have not gotten much layout work done recently. Some good (a much needed vacation in Curacao), some bad, including deaths in the family.

On a positive note, I did manage to finally finish painting the riverbed and poured the epoxy water in the Housatonic River, in the New Milford area. I removed the trees and vegetation to allow me to safely eliminate air bubbles with a stick lighter. I will do final scenery including rip-rap, sand, trees, vegetation, etc., once the epoxy cures completely. I'll probably add some ripples to the water eventually, as it is too large to be that smooth. That will wait until I add the marina and some boats near the old bleachery building.

You need to do an article for Pam @ NSCALE ..

Making the most of a few fragmented hours, over the weekend, I made some more progress in adding ground cover and vegetation along the Housatonic River scene on my layout. I still need to add surface ripples, ballast the bridge approaches and add a small marina to complete this New Milford, CT scene. This will hold me for now though.

I'd imagine the step to add ripples on that beautiful epoxy pour is being met with some trepidation.   :scared:
I know I'd be nervous about it.

Yeah, I will probably make a practice piece to be sure I like the effect.  I am a bit hesitant, but it is too large a body of water to be mirror flat.

Below is a photo of the prototype scene.
How might one best be able to replicate that sort of ripple effect?

That is the location!  Nice find!

I found a bottle of "Super Gloss Modge Podge" at Michaels, over the weekend.  I am going to experiment with dabbing some lightly on a resin surface on a test piece, prior to applying it to the layout.  I don't want to obscure the airbrushed shallow water effect that I was able to get.

That's what I've done but I used regular gloss Mod Podge.  I used a natural sponge, found at artist supply houses to dab it on randomly.

I really like the sponge idea!  Thanks.
