Round 2 Purchases Classic Metal Works Tooling

When Round 2 announced the licensing agreement for the Classic Metal Works tooling on April 26, 2017, it was mentioned that the agreement included an option to purchase the tooling after five years.  It looks like Round 2 has exercised that option.  https://www.round2corp.com/round-2-announces-the-return-of-classic-metal-works/

This news is encouraging, but I am still hoping to see the 1973 Chevy short bed pickups released in N scale in the not to distant future.   ;)

Sorry Carter, I just can't get excited about this.

This is year 2022. Third decade of the 21st Century. I wish most of the CMW's tooling was scraped , and new better quality (less clunky) models would be produced.  CMW stuff is only short step above Micro-Machines toy cars. Not quite as poor as the Bachman toy vehicles from the '70s, but pretty close.

“Most” for me is the key word here. This afternoon one set of CMW’s early releases sold for over $50.00 on eBay when shipping is included. The market for their better offerings is pretty robust, IMHO. Hopefully they will re-release some of the better, more popular models.

The scary part is when you go down to the basement after a few days away, and the 3D printer is making its own robot that looks a lot like a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.

My biggest complaint about CMW's tractor/trailers is that the wheels are too wide.  They should be 8 feet over the outside of the tires, and usually come in at 8.5 or more, which is surprisingly noticeable.  I end up filing the spring details off the frames, then cutting the axles a little shorter.  I can't imagine why they didn't get it right, as it certainly wouldn't have been any harder do.
