The next obvious step was of course ballasting. Now done, although weeds and grass will be added later.

Went through my entire collection of Model Railroader and threw most of it in the recycling bin.

I exhausted my supply of IDC connectors as I've been wiring up Windsor St 2.0. What a pain.

But at least, when I'd stick my head above the layout, I had these beauties looking at me.

And I'm reminded that yes, it is all worth it.

Too many unfinished projects, and way too many layout bits scattered around the house.

So something had to give.  I cleaned up the roundhouse module, rounded up all of its related parts, and built a crate to protect it for either long term storage or transport to its next home.

At the very least I'll have somewhere to exhibit the DKS Newport and Rock Falls.

I've been trying to give away a lot of prototype rail mags but have not had much success.  :(

put em on Craigs list in the free section . I got rid of all of my unwanted mags that way , A father brought his son to pick them up .

No one would notice that The roundhouse at Ridgly is mirror image right?

I went through several bags when I wired the layout Ed, they can go pretty fast once you get a rhythm down.
That Reading unit looks great!

It's really true. Luckily the corporate overlord will be delivering more tomorrow.

And thanks! I'm really happy with how its turned out.
Now I need to get some sound into it.

Forgive me, Railwire brothers, for I have sinned…

(Attachment Link)

…and apparently the wages of this particular sin includes faded Conrail Blue fingers.

But kidding aside, it was a nice hour or so in my wife’s craft room as we both worked on stuff.  She had nail polish remover out to remove paint from a display figure, and then I took a turn removing can openers from my SD45.  Family fun for everyone!

Paint and decals to follow.  The 60+ degree forecast for tomorrow should be ideal painting conditions.

Must have stood too close to @Ed Kapuscinski and got Conrail all over himself...

That snaking road bridge (trestle) in the center of the photo is sweet!

I'd raise a ruckus if he were doing almost anything else with it.

But slapping some worms in it? I'm down to clown.

I finished up my L&N E units today.  These are factory painted Life-Like shells mounted on Kato E7 mechanisms.  Digitrax DCC added as well as various details and weathering.  These can be run in any combination as they are all speed matched.  I'll use these to pull my "Pan American" and other L&N passenger and mail trains.

I finished with the decals on Ed K.’s undecorated Bachmann HO scale 4-4-0, turning it into a reasonable facsimile of Central of Georgia No. 349.

Since the CofG was a Southern Ry. subsidiary during the era of my layout, it seems apropos to put it into excursion service with a set of SOU cars: https://imgur.com/a/YlF7MYd
