If you wanted a PRR T1 but haven't gotten one yet this is a decent sale price.  $189.99 for a BLI PRR T1 with Paragon 3 decoder.  About $100 less than most current street prices.

These are the latest run. There are 5 numbers available.
They still have some of the first run but they aren't on sale, no clue as to why not.

Sorry for the long URL. It was much longer. I think I trimmed the tracker section off.

Price is good until July 5th.

Ooooh, that’s tempting… If it was the as delivered version, I’d take two.

I bought two.  I have two from the first run and that's more than I'll need, but I might use one to build an S1 (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=50301.0)

I really went looking at the FDT ad because I was hoping they put the BLI Mikado's on sale again for $180-ish.  Maybe for Black Thursday again this year.

I don't model PRR and I don't model the steam era, but I bought one anyway. Just what I needed...

I too succumbed and bought one - now I need a train for it to pull.  All I have that's PRR is the Kato Broadway set; I know that was not normally pulled by a T1 (maybe not ever?). What would be a good consist to put behind this post-war T1?

The Kato set is the 1950s style Broadway, pulled by the likes of E units and GG-1's.  But if it were me and I already had the set, I'd say "what the heck", and put the T1 on there.  If you really want a correct train, you could try hunting down Centralia Shops (Intermountain) "Fleet of Modernism" cars, which would be more correct for a post-war Broadway pulled by a T1.  This didn't last long, really only 1946-1947, but what a cool train.

What a great idea - I love the Fleet of Modernism paint scheme.

Just remember the devil is in the details.  Those FOM cars are not easy to find now.  I have the ones I bought when they came out.
They are beautiful cars, but there were major issues with the trucks (wheelsets coming out, wheels not rolling freely, etc).  IM did a replacement
program for them back then, but you won't know what you're getting if you get these on eBay.  You could always put MT passenger trucks in them.
But I agree with you.  The FOM cars are so darn pretty that I would hunt them down and then fix the trucks however I had to if I were making up a T1 train now.

I'm not adverse to painting some cars myself, but am not aware of any n scale decals for that scheme.

There were at least 2 runs of these (on differently designed cars).  On one of them the light and dark paints are very close in the shade, and the gold stripes are so dark that they are almost invisible.  The other one had better contrasting colors and brighter gold stripes. I have no idea which is more accurate, but I like the one with more contrasting colors.  I have a brass PRR S1 loco, and I have been buying those Centralia FOM cars (usually one-at-a-time) to  make up a decent size train.

It looks as though Intermountain/Centralia has a future run of FoM cars planned (or at least hoped for) as well - they are listed as "Reserve Now".

As for old Intermountain/Centralia cars - the ones with the American Limited trucks were early runs, and their running characteristics are very problematic.  They also had no interiors and no lights.   Later cars have Micro-Trains trucks, interiors and lights.   Dunno when they upgraded the FoM paint though.
Con-Cor also did the FoM scheme on their smoothside cars.   Oddly, Bachmann's smooth-side observation would be perfect in FoM (and they offer it in HO that way), but they only offer the later PRR paint scheme in N scale.
