You know, if you stick a second temporary track on that temporary loop you can temporarily stage another temporary train...  Just a thought...

There is!

Well at least on some of it, because I didn't want to mess with a curved turnout.

I also already labelled the switch for it (on the permanent layout).

I'da wrapped the double track around the loop itself and conserve the straightaway for either some scenic element like a bridge, a bit of switching, (even temporary loops need revenue customers!) or just a long straight single track through negatory space.  A staged train takes up less space visually when it's in a loop track, especially one that can be buried in scenery.

You could also put a slight bend in that track along the back edge to take it off the edge of the table, and even lengthen it by a wee bit in the process.

Just a little more spit balling, grounded in the idea that sometimes the temporary rig lasts for years while you accumulate the necessary "round tuits" to get on with whatever the Master Plan holds... In addition to a temporary JRFTM solution, you can also create a photo bed for a location that won't be part of the Final System Plan...

I had thought about that Lee, but that stretch right there is the Pershing Ave street running, so it wouldn't really be possible to put the switch there.

I don't like to talk about it, but I have definitely been thinking about scenicing this stretch, if for nothing else than to blow the cobwebs off my rural scenery chops.

The spot might be perfect for a rough approximation of Seitzland.

The only thing I have to contend with is that it's only 1" foam there.

Ok, did some more construction today. This one was a REAL pain in the a$$ to erect, but I designed it with that reality in mind.

The top "shelf" is for the turn back loop. The bottom is for the 3D printers.

There was only one problem. Despite measuring twice, this happened.

Looks like a measured off the bottom stud issue.

Ed,

Just figure out what height you need to add and cut some blocks out of scrap lumber.  Put the blocks under the shelf's legs and all will be well again.

Did you use that ruler that makes things look 6 inches bigger than they actually are?

Dammit, I should've known I'd have issues when the construction drawing said "A gentleman's 56 inches".

This is what I ended up doing.
