Some of my favoritest railfanning memories were sitting at Knecht Ave. in Arbutus in the early 80s waiting for the "D&H Man".  Every one I recall seeing was in fact hauled by EMDs, mostly 4 axle.  But it was dark, and there may have been beer involved, so I could be mistaken, so you have cover to send some Alcos down the NC.  But you'll have to make sure they're sound equipped.

I mean, is an Alco really an Alco if it doesn't sound like it's doing all it can to keep all the parts moving in the same direction?

Makes me pine for the foob Lifelike 38-2 I sold at N Scale Weekend last year...

Oh yeah, don't worry, Geeps are the primary here. I just couldn't say no to that minx.

That said, anyone looking to move some D&H or Reading GP39s? I'm in the market. @EL3632 , I'm looking at you.

When you have a moment, check out this video as it focuses on the DH in the 80s:

On a related note, the DH was leasing CR GP38-2 and B23-7 due to power shortages.  I just picked up Delaware and Hudson: The Final Years 1968 to 1991 by Rudy Garbley, and it shows on page 215 a CR GP38-2 leading on a train (WR-7) on the Sunbury Line.  That could be an option for your DH trains on the Northern Central.

Rudy's book is fantastic. Helping edit it is definitely one of the big drivers for incorporating the D&H on the NC.

I keep forgetting about the Conrail leased units. I now think I know what to do if I need to bulk out the consist until I get my hands on the proper 39s.

And @wm3798 , you know I'm on the lookout for em. Yes, they really only ran on the transfer job out to Sayre, but you know I'm not gonna let THAT stop me...

I'm making progress on various fronts on the layout, problem solving as I go.

The most visible progress was on V1.0 of the Downtown York backdrop.

Some of it looks good. But plenty still needs revisions.

I think I'm pretty happy with the Poorhouse Yard section.

Part of the York Tower stuff is ok, but it's where the biggest problem starts: I misinterpreted some of the measurements I had in my Photoshop file and so important scenes don't line up properly.

This isn't bad.

But, as you can see, down at the other end of town things are majorly out of whack.

That road that's painted on the foam is supposed to be this scene but it's far out of position.

That said, moving some stuff around has proved that the content, when properly placed, will likey look pretty good.

I was particularly pleased with the AI Generated stuff.

Still VERY much to do and revisions to go, but that's why I got my own printer...

And if you're curious, this is the background file I used (although much larger and at 300dpi).

Fascia up in this piece!

Closeup of the hardware.

I have a few more strips to hang before I paint it, but I've been tempted to skip ahead to that just to see it come together.

Love the mansard roof. Also the clever repurpose of a step stool into sorted storage.

It's funny how this goes.

I wanted to use the material I got for a this roof on my Pavonia diesel shop, but I needed to make sure that I had enough for this original use. That meant that it was time to actually make this roof.

So I did.

Far from done, but at least a step in the right direction.

More fascia work. Tightened up the knobs on the one end and added the new strip on the other. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I hope you keep the AC set to 55 in that room - it should feel as cold as looks!

Lol, thanks! That's exactly the reason for the little room AC unit in the corner there.
