Also I think the woddgrain depth may be necessary.  Would the track paint hide that detail on the photon print?

Highly unlikely.

Thats impressive, whats the print time comparison? as well as what settings are you running in the new unit?

Another question, what software do you draw in? the Wood grain is impressive and I'd like to know how you did that

Same print time more or less. The light off delay of the PSM4k is different than the photons. So that's where the increase is.

I always use Tinkercad. I am a designer so I took a wood grain pattern and basically "debossed" it into the 3d element.

Is that printed standing up or flat?

It's printed flat @Chris333 . That's why the leaning z-axis is really important for me to get fixed.

I may be in the minority but I think the grain in the ties looks more realistic in the Photon print.
The tie plates are much sharper in the Phrozen print, no doubt, but I think the wood grain is a little over cooked.

Not to be argumentative but definitely not in real life ... the PSM4k is far superior in most all ways. What you can't see is the undulation in the grain from a sideview (it's mostly absent in the Photon print). This is also me increasing the contrast of the photo to show more detail better.

If you look at my switch stand (up top) you can see the undulation in the wood grain - I could never get that effect adequately before with my Photon.

If you have any test prints you'd like me to do send me your 3d models and I'll print them (if they're reasonable). I'm looking in all my nooks and crannies for things to print.

Uh no, no I did not! Nothing tops the prototype ... 🤪
I believe I'm going to fix the z-axis in a more permanent manner not sure on how yet though. Might go with the dual z-rail photon fix on the SM4K.

I have a model you can test, and if it measures accurately, well I might just spring for one of these. I’ll compensate ifor materials and pay the shipping to get them back from you.

By the way, have you tried to print small holes in the Z-X or Z-Y plane yet?

The holes in the tie plate printed?

That would be the X-Y plane.

So I sssume you do not want to test my part,

Can you send me a pic of what it is? I’m happy to try to print it. I’m having trouble visualizing your 2d description in 3D hehe.

The boiler and tender shells in this album.

https://goo.gl/photos/TU4dQ9gCizR6i7Za8

If you look through the entire album you will see printed holes and slots used for etched details that plug into them, in addition to a long 0.25mm wide x 0.25mm deep groove along the side of the shells for stainless inlays.

The holes are a separate question. Have you tried to paint a very small hole through a wall where the hole’s axis is parallel to the build plate?

@Lemosteam send me a file let's give it a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained. How long is that shell in mm? Might have to place it diagonal. Also how important is the internal structure of the shell? I will say horizontal holes fill with resin (and accidentally cure) more than vertical ones. I have that knowledge already.

I just finished printing some cars for
@Chris333 just waiting on him to approve me posting the pics. I think they look pretty good except the parts I broke in cleaning them (sigh).

I haven't painted much - been too busy printing.
