Well...

Good news and bad news on MBKs final MTL T Box restock.

The Good News Is:

1. At around 11:30 AM EST there where 51 sets in stock at MBK.

2. As of 4:25 PM EST 46 sets were still in stock.

3. Expiring on 9/17/21, MBK has a 10% discount coupon 10FREIGHT available for freight car purchases.

The Bad News Is:

The MBK discount price for the version two sets has gone up $13.96: from the $95.99 that they were previously listed and sold for to the current figure of $109.95.

I already bought my pack last week, but just like last week, the TBOX cars DO NOT show up when you search the site via Scales > N Scale > New In N Scale (Shop Now!) page. You have to manually tick off the "Micro-Trains" box under the "Manufacturer" filter on the left in order to see them.

Found mine at a different dealer for $89.99. Was very happy with that price.

Sounds like I'm a week too late to this party. Hopefully Lombard posts them in the near future.

15 sets are available a mere 100 minutes later....

Glad I got mine even though I paid the MTL price. They are beautiful.

They show up for me. You have to scroll down

I think the MTS system inventory count is strange.
Sometimes when they load a new product it shows near 100 in stock then it quickly jumps down to 15. It sits at 15 for days. It would be interesting to know how that works. I know I am more prone to buy soon when I see 3 left in stock vs 100.

With real-time inventory management, the MBK site is hosted by Bigcommerce.

If there is a product restock, as was the case with the MTL T Box cars, the quantity in stock will immediately reflect any additional items that have been added to the existing inventory.

...

Which is kind of funny, because BigCommerce is in turn hosted elsewhere (one or more of the big cloud vendors).

I understand how restocking would jump the inventory up by large amounts. Jumping down by large amounts, maybe other dealers are buying? What I’m thinking is that the number is sometimes set artificially low at some points to possibly get sales moving. I’d love to see a graph of it over time. I’ve observed this on multiple items. It could be innocent but it looks strange to me.

And as of now, the last set in stock is showing full MSRP for the price. Likewise for the last sets of graffiti/weathered RBOX cars that just came out. Is Klein's now doing some sort of adaptive pricing that accounts for supply vs. demand of hot items?
