Iowa Scaled Engineering posted an interesting report on Caboose in Lakewood Co
https://www.iascaled.com/store/

Caboose hasn't re-opened since the initial COVID-19 lockdown, citing Colorado state restrictions.  In fact every other store--hobby or otherwise--has re-opened and did so before summer.  It's clear there's something afoul there.  I haven't been since last year and it wasn't worth the drive.  Their shelves are empty.

So sad, knowing what the old Caboose was.  Maybe there's no room in the 21st century for a store like that but whatever's happening at the current Caboose...this is hardly the first report I've heard about unethical behavior.  The local model railroad scene here on the Front Range is bewildered by what's happening.

Caboose Stop Hobbies in Iowa
has been mistakenly confused (and accused) of some of their shannanigins as well...

Someone sent in a locomotive to 'Caboose' for repair or exchange.. and going on 6 months.. no responce from Caboose... until they contacted us..   We thought they were still in business.. looks like apparently not...

Interesting story indeed!  They even paid an in-person visit to deliver the invoice.  It only makes Caboose's situation worse.

Maybe they should have had the invoice in one hand and a baseball bat in the other.

This was posted to their FB page as well.  Caboose has replied in the comments throwing shade at ISE for taking this public, after they claimed to have replied via email.  ISE says no email was ever received.  It's a nasty back and forth.

There’s going to be more COVID business fatalities over the next 6 months.

I was told by our builder that people wanting to start construction on a new house now are in for a world of hurt with supply chain problems. They’ve been told by their suppliers, for example, that fiberglass batt insulation will not be available after the 1st of the year, and for an extended, unknown period of time.

We’ve had delays of some items like tile & major appliances, but everything is in now & we’re less that 60 days from completion, so we’re ok. 😰

As for Caboose... pay up or shut up.

Let's be very clear on this matter.

Caboose is not a COVID-19 casualty.  Caboose stopped being a hobby shop many months prior to COVID-19.  I took photographs of how empty the shelves were the last time I went in on June 10th, 2019.

Here's the scenery wall:

Here's the scratchbuilding supply center:

I'm trying not to speculate as to motivations...but there was no actual Caboose Hobbies of any tangible kind well before the virus hit our shores.

Caboose owes a looooot of money to multiple suppliers.
