There would definitely be clearance issues under 83 and I think the weight might be too much for Lee's benchwork.

I have a large group of O scale trolleys. I have found that I am addicted to detailing interiors...

I'm thinking about an interior for my caboose build.

Where do you get suitable parts for such stuff?

On my trolleys I usually make a pattern either printed or scratch built and cast a bunch in resin, I'm talking mostly seats. I've even made milk glass ceiling lights.

I use micro plywood stained and varnished mahogany for interior walls. This is an opportunity to let your imagination run away. These old passenger cars were works of art.

One reason I like N scale is I can mostly ignore the interiors.

You are going to love O scale !

Walthers stocks a Grandt Line caboose stove. https://www.walthers.com/estate-caboose-stove-with-coffee-pot
What else might you be seeking?

I've been thinking about that, but I also want to ensure compatibility when visiting other layouts.

However, there's ALSO plenty of room for a switch...

Ed.
If you are running battery it should not matter should it! All power is from the battery not rail.
I would think you could run independently.
NCE has a neat system.
