I guess I'm officially an Addict.... Photon Mono X on the way

I've only been playing with these things a few months and I just ordered my second printer. The Photon Mono X pre-orders went up today and I bit the bullet. The bed is large enough to print my passenger cars flat on the build plate with room to spare if I want to. 192mm long, the cars are 142mm long.  New mono screen, brighter UV and faster print times (1-3 seconds per layer) all sound like a plus to me. Also the resolution got better with the larger 4k monochrome screen. From .062mm to .05mm resolution. Also advertising .01mm vertical resolution now.

Now to wait till Halloween before I see it. Supposedly shipping October 5th.

Sounds hot, just wish the cleanup process of SLA wasn't such a pita and that UV resin wasn't a low level bio hazard.

Although I doubt much can be done with making most UV resins less hazardous, unless the plant-based versions already are...My Anycubic Wash & Cure makes cleanup exponentially easier and less messy than conventional "pickle jar" or ultrasonic methods.  Also, having my homemade spray booth next to my 3D printer bench sucks that stink right outside and keeps the room, basement and house fresh.

I'm also pre-ordering a Photon Mono X as I've already got projects that require a bigger vat and print envelope.  The added speed and resolution will also be welcome capabilities to have and well worth the price.

Cheerio!

Hopefully the mono screen will reduce anti-aliasing some due to less color bleed between pixels.

Is it any more hazardous than MEK, or Methylene Chloride plastic cement, Xylene, Naphtha, Acetone, or other chemicals in lacquer thinners we use in our hobby?

Pita?  Just wash in a tub of alcohol with a chip brush.

That and the LED matrix rather than just 2 or 3 LEDs should help.

I'd consider it significantly more hazardous.

Brief skin contact will cause rash and burn.  Prolonged exposure (including multiple brief contacts over time) will cause allergies.

I'm guilty of rushing things from time to time (who am I kidding; frequently), and omit gloving up sometimes when doing quick prints.  If I get so much as a tiny drop on my hand it will itch all night, even after immediately wiping it with IPA soaked rag and washing with soap and water.

I see. Thanks!  I wonder if everybody is affected to the same degree?

It doesn't bother me at all, but it's very sticky once on the skin. I have had resin on my hands/gloves and then touched my mouth. Once on lips or in the mouth, it's hard to get rid of the taste though.

It does not.  Just like the smell.  Some people hate it, some don't even notice it.
It's the cumulative part that worries me though.  When I first started out, a drop on the skin did nothing to me either.  Now it causes a (very mild) itch.

I had to mothball mine due to the smell.  I'm looking at various solutions to get it back up and running this winter.
