First rail movement on the newest section of GC&W benchwork, the peninsula into Yermo. Too bad it was a wayward Santa Fe S-2 that broke its moorings in old Barstow.

Also been playing with a German-made automatic track cleaning car this week:

Not a valid vimeo URL
It works surprisingly well, strange as that may seem. However, since replacement polishing wheels are made of unobtainium at the moment, I have a batch of homebrew wheel hubs fresh off the Photon in the curing oven for testing this evening.

Finally got my Reading F7 finished.  Now to start another A and B to go with it.  This one was a test for the new color green Microscale is using for the stripe.  The old decals were too dark.  The new ones are definitely better.  This is a BLI F unit.

Hi
It's been a while since I had time for a lot of modelling, but our lockdown coupled with my Wife being away for 11 weeks meant I had the time, plus the dining table converted to a workbench provided the space.  Here's some of my projects that I managed to work on.  Mostly Alco's of course but a couple of EMD's managed to work their way in.  Sadly my compressor failed during lockdown, so not much painting was done.  There are 4 Briggs Models in the photos, chop nose CP Rail RS-3, CP Rail RS-23, D&M C-425m, Morristown & Erie M-420.

I do manage to keep an eye on the wonderful work you guys do each week which shows me I really need to lift my game.

Cheers

Won a bunch of these old Lineside Models resin kits in an auction and have been putting them together. Experimenting with techniques to improve the looks of the solid windshields.

Making progress on my latest tanker truck build. A lot to do yet, I now need to paint white on top 2/3 of cab and beige on bottom of tanks, and add windshield....................

Be well!

I made a very irresponsible (financially) purchase.

I've been waiting for one of these to pop up on eBay for years.  The San Juan seems to come up more often, but neither one has come up in a long time.  This is one of my favorite locomotives of all time, and I'm beyond ecstatic to have one!  If I had any doubt that a new engineering report is in my future, I can safely say that this purchase has solidified my resolve to build a garden railroad.  Much more testing is in order to determine tolerances and such, but I do believe this is my next project.

As an aside, I was curious if the Johnson bar and reversing mechanism were functional.  Given that a live steam version of this model was made, I was really hoping that the mechanism was the same on the motorized version.  Just a few minutes ago, I confirmed that it is!  I intend to install a sound decoder in it, and I also have ideas of installing a solenoid (or something) that will throw the reverser when the direction is changed.  I leave you with,

Oh man a On3 Mason would have probably been lighter on the wallet, but then you'd have to paint it.  :scared:

Paint it and find a place to run it. I’ve got a transcontinental PRR to rebuild in N scale, so my DSP&P aspirations need to be robust enough for the back yard!

I decided I wasn't happy with a couple of my yard tracks (too short) and finally called in the gandy dancers to do something about it -

All better now :D

What a stunning model, Eric!!
Mason Bogies are among my favorites, too, with South Park #42 on top of my list....
I hope this one gets to be displayed in a prominent spot when not in your back yard 8)

Is that Krystal Klear (or Elmers?)  Looks like it hasn't quite dried?
