Yay more L&N hoppers! Glad to see the Transition Era Southern cabs finally got a ETA as I’m really looking forward to them. Hopefully the next round of Rebuilt War Emergency Hoppers will feature Southern’s black Railroad Roman scheme to go along with the Transition Era cabs.

I was just thinking the other day about how I could use a couple of these in midwestern road names, and lo and behold, here they are.

Cool on the NKP. :D These were classed H17 on N&W - probably none were repainted.

On the N&W roster:
1965: 30
1966: 8
1967: 6
1968: 3
1970: 2
1971: 2
1972: 0

We'll get to that scheme at some point but since we are already working on 3-bay offset side hoppers in Southern Roman Black, I thought we should go with a difference era for this one. The 3-bays can be seen here: http://bluford-shops.com/bluford_93_041.htm

According to the NKP Historical Society, one of the NKP cars was repainted to N&W after the merger (N&W 231465) and it was one of the cars scrapped in 1972. Sadly, there are no known photos of it in N&W paint.

Great looking cars.  I'd be in for PRR and C&O but my time period of 1948-50 is a little early.  Maybe I'll fudge...

Anyway, full set of NKP hoppers ordered!  I note that there are three missing part numbers in the sequence - saving room for a second 3-car run?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I'm glad you asked that. We have in the past used the last digit in the stock number to denote if it was a single, 2-pack, 3-pack or in a few cases 6-packs. Since we are now doing these runs as 6 road numbers - all available separately, I wanted to avoid ending a stock number in 2, 3, or 6 just to avoid confusion when pulling orders. That leaves 0, 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 (with 9 as a spare.)

I’ve had one of these in a previous release stripped and ready for paint for C&O in my project pile for a while now. Thanks for doing these!

I’m gonna need a bigger stimulus check now lol. Been hoping for the permanently coupled Southern cars. Keep in mind that some of these were painted for the Central of Georgia too. Just give my wallet time to recover.

That's wild - thanks!

On another note, if you have any hoppers good for for 60's+ Interstate (Southern style "billboard" lettering), when you offer 'em, I'll buy 'em. :D
