Having spent some time photographing moose, all I can say is that I never heard one do anything like a bugle. A moose has an inquisitive grunt noise when it seems to be asking a question (like "Who peed on this bush just after the trail split?" when one gets to where I "marked" the path to my tent to keep them out of my camp). The rest of the sounds I heard were sloshing in water, peeing a LOT of "water", and "thundering hoofs" when they ran somewhere. Maybe a few horselike snorts. Of course, I stayed out of the woods during breeding season, so I can't tell you about the noises they make when things get exciting. But, for summer scenes, nothing exciting. Maybe a sound track for wolves? Coyotes?
