Lookingfor some resistor help.
I have a Proto 1000 Series HO RDC that I have put a sound system in it using the stock PC board with some modifications to except DCC. I want to use the exsiting lights that are bulbs but I am finding that they are too dim. On the stock board is a 300 ohm 1/2 watt resistor. Can someonesuggest what would be a good value for this to bring the light up in brightness?

I haven't got a way to see what the voltage is but the output is coming from a Digitrax SDXN136.

Thanks for any help on this, Jon

Since HO I'm assuming this not a surface mount.  Either way though my suggestion would be to remove and desolder and then experiment with light, barely soldered connection or even just tack a pair of wire leads that you can hold/clamp the resistor to until you find what you like then go in and fully solder.  If I were you I would try a 220 ohm and the work down from that.

Since it doesn't sound like you have a voltmeter/multimeter handy just be careful as you dont want to run to much current through and blow the bulb.
