Working on an HO project for a friend.  A fantasy what-if, the Maryland and Pennsylvania RR survived alone and started acquiring SD40 locomotives.  Here is the class unit, #3000.

No significant modeling for me due to work and the flu, but I did JFRT today during lunch:

In keeping with the Western Maryland goodness above...

Sprayed a mist of rust and grime on the truss bridge over the Potomac, and painted the pier and abutments for same.  This paved the way for a bit more scenery...  Namely...

Ballast!  I now have about 18" of track that's photogenic!  I also broke out the bag of lichen I had bought at our local Ben Franklin as it was slipping beneath the waves... I'm going to miss that place... Michaels is so ... sterile.  Okay, it's clean.  Ben Franklin was a little more well traveled...  Anyway...

The next phase of moving things along was to install some accessory bus wires to feed my need to light up all the things.  The motorists arriving in Paw Paw can now do so safely after sundown.

I haven't seen a picture of one of those stackable plastic trees in years,  There's one in my mining town, just sitting there, not part of "finished" scenery.

New Module in progress. I'm calling it "Deep Woods." Basicly, it's going to be a dense forest, with the siding that goes towards the back of the module, and will ultimatly come out the back, and will have a detachable fiddle track. I was working on a station scene module, But I didn't have the vision to finish it, and I was over my head, and was frustrated.

Whats funny is, In 5 days I have got almost the same progress as it took me 2 years on the last module.

I’ve wondered about those too. If I recall they were about .10c? This was in maybe 1985. I feel like I could do something with those buried in the canopy. Maybe not. I’m remembering them as an 8 year old.

Edit: I realize now you are talking about the one in the bridge scene. I’m referring to different ones. They were conifers. Came in two colours. Green... and a different green. And had a brown stump. They were three pieces and if you took a few apart you could arrange in three plausible sizes.

Does anyone else remember what I’m referring to?

craigolio1:  We're thinking of the same ones.  I was referring to the middle picture, with the plastic conifer in the center.  I tried covering one with ground foam once, to see if it looked better.  It didn't....  Maybe a darker green paint would have been a better idea.

One of these days I'll think of a use for mine.  Maybe as part of a business sign, for a cheap "tourist" motel?  For now, it sits in vacant lot, minding its own business.
