I really love that factory. If you're gonna start over or perform major surgery, I can think of a good home for it.

Appreciate that @Ed Kapuscinski !  The tall portion (styrene shell) is not attached, so I should be able to swap in the DKS suggestions in its place.

Hoping to squeeze in some updates in between working-from-home obligations this week.

Quick update after replacing the tall structure with two sections, with door openings roughed in.   I also cut some tubing for the horizontal tanks (maybe too small in diameter).

The white rods will be unloading/transfer piping, and the cardboard is where that weird pump house thing will go.  Paint is next!

I'm really curious about how you do your unloading piping. I have a fair bit of that to do myself and haven't started yet.

Right on @Ed Kapuscinski , I don't have a solid plan yet.  The proto looks to have loading towers on the industry siding, with unloading hoses on the passing track (something I haven't planned on).  I'm just now scrounging for appropriate looking pipe sizes, nothing finalized.

I'm watching your "challenge" thread, not ashamed to cheat off your paper LOL.

Here's where the CRC facility stands currently; I finished painting the background buildings and also swapped in larger horizontal tanks (loosely placed for now).

I also glued in footings for the ground-level unloading piping, using the big Atlas 25,500 gallon tanks for reference.  I chose 1/16" (.06) rod for the piping, as .040 was too small and .080 looked a little too big.  Plan is to glue in the piping after ballast is down, and then attach the hoses.

I don't think I'm going to keep the little pump/valve house, as there's not enough room to route the piping up and over the inner track.  That's a problem for next time!

This week, I attached fascia and NCE jacks for a more finished look; it's not as deep as I was looking for, but the price was right ($2 at Restore).  It's actually grey in person, stupid iPhone makes it look tan:

For the CRC plant, I fabricated the tank farm containment and attached the horizontal tanks.  I browsed some manufacturer sites to get a feel for access hatch and vent locations; fill piping is next:

And today my 6-pack of Shapeways pumps arrived (thanks @Ngineer), so the staff can move product around the factory:

Ngineer makes a number of good offerings for N scale industries.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Same here! Simple, inexpensive and elegant all at the same time.

@basementcalling you are correct, the @Ngineer Shapeways shop is full of good stuff.

And thanks @nickelplate759 , @C855B , and @johnb!  I've always used hardboard in the past for contour variations, but the base trim is great for a flat industrial layout.
