Wow!  Three different pain schemes are visible! This would be a perfect candidate for MTL to model in they weathered line.

@Shipsure ? What do you think?

The original A1G model, from the early 1970s.  It still would blow out if MTL did the scheme on their model, or if Atlas released it on their more modern version.

Yeah, prototype is 4-bay, and MTL is a 3-bay, but MTL does not shy from using stand-ins.  :D

It would be nice if Atlas could pull this scheme off on their model, but they lack the ink-jet decorating capabilities that MTL has (vital for this type of artwork).

How about a joint venture between Atlas and MTL?  Atlas supplies the car, and MTL decorates it?  MTL has in the past done that for some of their models.  That would be awesome!

Paging the Conrail Historical Society. Paging the Conrail Historical Society. Will the Conrail Historical Society please report to the Retail space for the most successful model based fundraiser in the history of model based fundraisers?

Too bad the prototype is a low-production ACF 5700 rather than a more common ACF 5250 with trough hatches, as that would be a good reason for MTL to expand their product line :)

Off the top of my head, I recall Atlas already offered their ACF 5701 with trough hatches decorated as a stand-in for the earlier ACF 5700 in at least one paint scheme (e.g. NYC, PC or CR)...
