"Brass car sides" can be confusing.  They're both a generic product (any etched brass replacement side for a passenger car), and a company (Brass Car Sides).  The only ones I've ever used were from Brass Car Sides, and I often forget that others make similar products.

I used two sets of the same brass sides from Brass Car Sides. I cut the recessed parts out of one, and the equipment panel doors out of the other and soldered them together in layers so the lounge windows and passenger door are recessed and the equipment doors are in relief. I also cut holes in the brass skirting for the service and hose connections on the Bachmann body.

That's one reason I didn't replace my kitbashed models with BCS.  The brass sides look nice, but lack depth.  The old MR article produces nice depth, and actually looks better, but some of the work is a little tricky.  I have one brass conversion and two kitbashed ones.

I have another Bachmann dome, and will probably do my own kitbash of that one, if I build another one.  Or I might just leave it Amtrak as an ex-ATSF car.
