I hope @Lenny53 is okay, as it appears that it has been two weeks since the last Thursday Proto Photo thread was started and ten days since he was last active on the TRW.  :scared:  I also hope I'm not stepping on his toes by starting this thread in his absence.

I finally nabbed one of these in the wild.  This is East Penn Railroad's GP38-3 No. 2800 in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania on the former PRR Octararo branch on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.  I'm really taking a shine to short lines lately, and this one is less than fifteen minutes from home!  I really like this paint scheme.

I like the colors, too... but someone has to tell these short line guys that it doesn't cost extra to use a nice font.

I have loved the lines on the Octoraro branch for a LONG time. There are some great videos out there about them, and this is one of my favorite photos:

A couple more from over the years:

The former Reading part was pretty cool too. There's even a Big Mike video about it: https://www.johnpmedia.com/dvds/anthracite-railroads-in-the-70s-volume-1

Well...  I've just spent the last hour watching the preview segments for all those DVDs.  Pure filth.   :D

It's true. There's a reason I've got the collection of them I do. And why I jumped at the chance to help John out with his website when he needed it.

@Ed Kapuscinski,

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the links.  I'll probably kill some time tonight perusing that as I research the line.  I wish I could get some sort of idea of how to railfan the East Penn's W&N and Octararo lines, because I have never caught a moving train on these rails.  Ever.

To get the full effect you have to watch it while dining on hot dogs and pierogies.

I was out for a run this afternoon on the trail that parallels the Northeast Corridor ("NEC") in Newark, Delaware, and, during my cool-down, this came along:

That's NS SD40-2 No. 3423 (a former Conrail unit) and (surprise!) a Dash 9, NS C40-9W No. 9977, on the point of a long mixed manifest heading south.  Interestingly for you Yankees, this former B&M covered hopper was tagging along:

Also, part of the trail that I run on is a rail-trail on the roadbed of the former Pomeroy & Newark RR that ran from Pomeroy, Pennsylvania down through Newark, Delaware and on to Delaware City, Delaware.  This road was nicknamed the "Pumpsie Doodle."  This information board is at the head of the trail, which is near where the road once crossed what is now the NEC:

Alongside the board is a piece of a switch.  The sign says that the ground throw is from the P&N:

Finally, on the other side of the trail from the switch is this bench, complete with roller bearings!  Who wants to ride?

Wish they would put up informative signs like that along our bike trail.
