@CRL - the flagpole is in the clear, the tree obstructing the view is on this side of the drive.

And thanks, Mike!

Thanks for clearing that up. It probably would have kept me awake tonight.  :scared:

Another step on the road to NKP #361: all the RPO doors and windows are cut, installed frames and sashes on this side so far. After I finish that, next is to splice the pieces together and add the deep letterboard. Have no idea what to use for the outside the window steel bars arrangement. Any ideas?

Growing up around the NP/BN, I was always told that a wreck crane SHOULD be moved with the boom trailing.  The key word is "should".  There are times when, due to the location of the wreck, the crane has to be moved with the boom leading.  That is fine, as long as it is properly secured.

A few of the Modutrak guys (4 of us) had part of the layout set up at the RPM meet in St. Louis on Friday and Saturday.  I got to meet some of you in person for the first time.  The layout ran great.  I didn't get a chance to take any photos of the setup, but did take a quick video of my Milw Sprint Train on of of our corner modules (the lighting in the hallway we were set up in was not ideal).  A fun show to display at as always.

This train was started in the late 70's by the Milw to try to capture some of the truck traffic back from the highways between Chicago and St. Paul. 20 dedicated flats and two GP40's on a consistent schedule (they left each terminal on time no matter how many trailers were on the train - note the empty flats at the end of the train). By the time they discontinued this service, they were running 2-3 trains each direction each day if I remember correctly. They ran these on a fast schedule achieving speeds of 60-70 mph as they traveled through Wisconsin.

A project is on the horizon.
Reworking a plan seen here before, just with some extra real estate.

Yes, @VonRyan has been embarrassed into starting this by me and @ChristianJDavis1  , who has created the mostly-functional beginnings of a layout in two and a half days (https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=47491.0), and will be showing it off at Altoona, while Cody has only made excuses why he can't start a layout... ;) ;)

Finished up this little HO Willmodels waffle house building this weekend. It had been sitting around half finished for the better part of 2 years. The decal on the front kind of disintegrated, but that's my fault I'm rusty at using decals and moved it around too much. It made kind of a neat weathered effect.

I also installed DCC/Sound/Keep-Alive and an LED headlight in an N-scale Oriental Limited PRR S1 6-4-4-6. I scored the S1 on eBay over the July 4th weekend.

Nice catch.  Beautiful locomotive.  I don't expect to see it weathered any time soon!  ;)

Nice , what did you use to deaden the common drum effect we hear on many layouts ?

Progress continues!
South Westville and North Woodbury have returned to a tolerable operational status.

South Westville: A farmer's market has set up shop at Olive St. & Broadway in the Del Monte distributor's parking lot.

With a checkers game at Bob's news stand across Olive St.
Yuk coke! Where's the Pepsi?

Decker's Mobil has returned to Gateway Blvd.

It looks like trash/garbage day on Washington Ave. in North Woodbury.

The track is glued to cork roadbed over a 2” high spline constructed  of 1/8” Masonite.   2” high density foam is fitted on either side of the spline which allows the ground form to be carved but no track is actually running on foam.
The module box is built from Baltic birch plywood with 1/8” Masonite sides that cap the foam and can also be cut to match whatever ground form is carved. The spline and foam are on top of the plywood box.
There’s a build thread that explains the construction methods in better detail on our website Modutrak.com

Assembled one of these.

Everything being vaguely bent is tough, also found it immensely easier to just scratch build the grab irons out of wire. Just need to paint it up later.
