Ooh!

Is it BYOB? :)

I wont be there until Sunday .. maybe you can photoshop me in :) -- I'll send you the selfie

Certainly, I will try.  I'm not going to spend hours on it as I would with a paid assignment so it may look obvious but hey, family is family!  :)

I will have a limited number of these storage boxes at the show for $5 each.  I have been using these personally and find them a good balance betweenl the size of the box and how many items each box can hold.

You will get this:

You will need to cut and pluck the dividers and glue back to your taste and needs.  You can fit multiple combinations depending on how you config it.  One 40' and one 50' car per row, two 40' cars per row, three 30' shorties per row, or leave as is for smaller items like vehicles etc.  You can not fit two 50' cars per row.  You can also hold locomotives.

I will have about 20 of these or whatever can fit in my trunk.  If you think you definitely want some, PM me and I will reserve them for you.  Only $5 each!   :D

From my former place of employment.  Custom parts arrive in those boxes.

The top egg-crate like foam is just perfect for N-scale.  It just touches the rolling stock or locos but not high pressure to crush them.  I've had tank cars in there and the delicate handrails are untouched so no deformation.

The train ride is enticing - except that the dinner and auction probably won't be over in time to get there in time to board.

Hmm. I just figured I'd slide from one to the other, even if it means skipping the auction.

@MK - what is the depth on these?  Could they handle autoracks if a person was so inclined?

The depth of the tray insert is approximately 7/8" but that is a meaningless measurement as anything put into it need to stick out a little so the egg crate foam can "grab" it.

Having said that I think it may work if you cut out the dividers such that you combine two rows into one.  Then lay the autorack on it's side.  It's definitely too tall to stand up.

I have some spare trays.  I'll cut up two rows to combine into one and bring it with me so you can test it on site.

I got clarification from the Everett that the Saturday evening run out of Hollidaysburg will be diesel powered.

They have quite a layover at Roaring Spring, enough time for everybody to get ice cream, so it you're really conflicted you could probably get a ticket and do a one-way back to Hollidaysburg...!  With a little help from your friends.
