I don't think I'd be able to do it for the $2 ea price I'm charging now.   
I simply have a different target customer. I'm offering a nice little model at a very reasonable price, plus you don't have to deal with Shapeways. I usually ship the next day.
I have no quarrel with folks who prefer a higher end product with super details like theirs. They have great stuff. It's just not my target customer.

If I get the time I'll probably play around with adding interiors, but for now...

As a potential customer (if you do some early 50s stuff in the future), my perspective is that I use both.  I have cars by Rasputen, Sylvan and similar manufacturers, along with some mass produced) that have clear windows and interiors, plus some CMW, and then, for use in background, cars that are solid castings.
So, while as a foreground detail, I am more likely to go with a carefully painted Rasputen model of a 50s Buick, I definitely also have a place for a well scaled $2 car to fill up a parking lot or side street.

Well, I will have those places if I ever get this layout started....

But these are 3D printed- aren't they?  How would printing them with open window areas be more expensive or labor-intensive?  Actually, since they would be hollow shells, they would use less resin.  As I see it, the only additional cost would be the initial CAD design time for the interiors to be hollowed out.

EDIT:  To complete my train of thought, see-through windows and hollow interior would also warrant having a 2-piece model:  one-piece shell, and then the floor/wheels (and possibly bumpers) assembly as the 2nd piece.  If needed, interior could also be part of the floor/wheels piece. But that is optional for a low cost model.  Having the model in 2 pieces would also make painting much easier.

Peteski:  I was thinking the same thing.  In resin, open interiors are a major hassle, but for 3D printing, it should be fairly easy.  Detailed interiors might not, but the Wiking autos from the 70s didn't have them, just a hollow body, a floor, and a clear window insert.  For printing, just make the body and floor, leave the window material to the purchaser.  Both could be in one piece, with only the upper half actually hollow.

I understand that dilemma all too well.   It's not what can be done but what can be done at what budget?   Sometimes it's a tough call.

To me most vehicles are more of a scenery detail rather than a focal point on a model railroad. I wonder if these are light enough to put in an auto-rack without making it way overweight.

They would be very light and as such should be fine.  Especially if they were hollowed out.

In N Scale- a seated figure from Preiser, a 20/0 brush, some craft paint from Walmart (glossy, so you get the full Brylcreem effect), and then do your best to paint a crew cut with the craft paint.  If you actually try to paint a mullet, with the craft paint, you will end up with either a 60s hippie or a bouffant hair-do.

I just put 11 of my pick up on my postal scale.  1/2 ounce.
