If you're not familiar with the area, the roundhouse is one block from downtown Martinsburg,  When I arrived two years ago the most numerous business in downtown was tattoo parlors.  Not that I have anything against tattoo parlors, but main street is looking up, with some new businesses and restaurants.

Have a great week.

Glad to hear that Martinsburg is getting a little less scary.  It's got some great bones, but for whatever reason, the money tends to stay in Virginia.  I attended a music festival at the roundhouse many years ago when they did such things... it was a bit coarse as a venue, and the dreams were big, but it always seems to be "wait for next year" up there in the panhandle...  There's more art and culture out in remote Thomas, WV than in Martinsburg...

I did my first sound decoder install.  I started with a cheaper one, SDN144K1E , in case i incinerated it. ;)

Speaker in the fuel tank.  I was a bit leary of attacking the frame with the drill press, but she turned out ok.  The capacitor is in the cab, which doesn't leave room for the number-board lighting tube.  I'm curious what others may have done.  I may just put a SMD in the cab headlight itself and get rid of the light tubes.

the only caveat was the front pads are a bit thin and would slip, so I added an extra bit of solder on each

Speaking of remote WV, yesterday we stumbled across this in Rainelle. Immediately thought of you, Lee: :D

One last Weekend Update post for this week. Found the short in the EP-3 frame, and got the headlight circuitry consistently working. Just have to swap out the bright white for a golden yellow, put the LEDs in the headlight canisters and wait to mount them on the detailed body after painting.

Rummaging through more boxes netted me a treasure I thought was lost...

I also found the drive for it, but it needs a bit of tinkering to smooth out some of its age lines... so here it rides on one of the replacement drives recently acquired from the DKS.

Note the Bicentennial paint scheme...  The Laurel Valley was originally conceived as an early Conrail spinoff operation, so this would have been painted sometime between April 1 and July 4 1976...  Although I think I painted the model in the mid to late 80s.  I touched it up a little today with a new horn and fresh nose herald.

Seriously now... your browser settings are likely blocking "mixed mode", preventing HTTP content (the picture) from showing within an HTTPS page (TRW). My server is HTTP only. There is no need for "secure" mode since it's a read-only site.

(Before one or many of you jump on me about "why not use TRW's hosting?", I host my own images for many reasons. And at >1GB worth of pix, Tom probably prefers that, too.)
