E-L black/yellow scheme decals?

Hi all,
I want to do up a LL C424 in the black/yellow scheme. But I can't seem to find appropriate decals. I checked Micro Scale, Prime Mover, and Highball Graphics. Nada, unless I missed them? See link from FF site for loco pic.  http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/loco/el2413jpa.jpg.
 Thanks for any guidance,
 Joe D

Joe, The easy part is the lettering, Diamonds and "Radio Equipped" are on Microscale 60-16, the hard part is
the yellow nose. I don't think anyone makes that as a decal. I remember on some early paint project, I used
the yellow from an HO Erie decal set, cut the curve out, and painted the nose. Was a real pain, but perhaps with some care you could make it work.
I checked my decal stash, but don't know what Erie set I used. Maybe an HO EL/DL&W set could give you a big enough piece of yellow.
Not impossible, but that would be a B***H to mask and spray.
Oh and the 424/5s had that stencil type font for the number boards, not sure where you would find them as they are not on any of the sets that I have, including various white letter/number sets.
Maybe that's why I only do the GMY scheme. I didn't like the post merger, pre William White, "Erie" black.

Let me know how it works out.

I contacted Prime Mover Decals. Response was these decals are planned for HO and N in the future. How long in the future???
I did the Microscale set, buy it's the yellow nose I'd like as a decal. Maybe I'll just paint engine black for now.
 Thanks,
 Joe D

Joe, I also have a C424 painted black awaiting a solution to the yellow nose.  If you come up with anything, please let me know.

I did this one a few years ago by hand-painting the nose.

Regarding the number board font; the next unit I have is to be #2415 so that I can re-use the numberboards from the PRR unit I stripped. I can live with the font compared to the stress of decaling the boards...  :D

Ron, looks pretty good! What horns did you use, as I will do same arrangement on the C424 in m/y/g I'm working on now?
I should contact Prime Mover for possible timeframe. I've printed #boards on paper, and just tacked them on clear inserts.
 Thanks,
 Joe D

PS, A black unit could be lettered for PC, if they got any in the merger. (Pretty sure they did.)  Did any survive into Conrail paint?

The horns are Atlas single chime horns from my parts bin.  All details are based on the builders photo of #2406 from 1964, as well as photos in various EL books.  (EL Power Vol. 1 was very useful!). You are right, the horn location varied over the years, but the black and yellow scheme only lasted 4 to 6 years (based on research of books, not first-hand experience).

I believe all the C424's made it to Conrail. Of those, most ran in GMY for quite a while, I doubt they were all repainted blue.

Since I did the first one, I wanted to paint a second for a matched set. It's sitting on the back of the workbench awaiting motivation and yellow nose decals.  :D  If I ever acquire another LL unit, I may try to bash it into a C424M painted for the B&H # 422 for a 50 year "before -and-after" comparison.

Ron, Thanks for horn info. Likely have those in my parts bin, too.
No reply from Prime Mover about future date on decals.
