I made a little progress on my NP W-3. I think I have the most nerve racking parts done. I also made some progress on the tender, hopefully I have them together a week from now.

Worked a little more on the TTrak modules.  Adding a grade crossing for Baltimore Street...

And started working on the flood channel for Wills Creek.

All the best,

I’ve always had a soft spot for BL-2s. They’re so funny looking.

Nice work Wolf.  Even though the RI BL-2s don't make it to my 1966 timeline, they're one of my favorites.

beautiful BL-2!

Me? I have been busy preparing for our annual show.  http://railwaymodellersmeetofbc.ca/

We will have guest clinics from hobby luminaries such as Lance Mindheim, Dr. Geoff Bunza, and David Popp of MR.  If you will be or can be in the Pacific Northwest the first weekend of May, don't miss the Meet.  Always a good time and the C$ exchange rate makes it very affordable.

My contribution is a couple of clinics: one on the Nelson diesel house build and one on modelling the Slocan Lake subs complete with car barge operation.

Joining Gary H's Tehachapi BC, Tim H's BCR Dawson creek, and numerous other fine layouts, the C&W will also hold an op session for meet guests so I have been getting it ready for that session.  I thought there might be some interest into what is involved in re-staging the layout.  Size wise the layout will host 7 visitors, one home road crew and a dispatcher for a 3 to 4 our session.  We will move 300-400 cars in 15-16 trains plus light pusher set moves.

Preparing the layout for an Ops Session takes approximately "day and a half" of grunt work.  In the above photo I am restaging 75% of the layout which takes about 2.5 hours.  Trains on the upper and middle decks have been been brought from their hidden staging points onto the layout to facilitate re-tagging their cars, while the index table-mounted fiddle yard has been pulled forward exposing four more trains to be retagged/fiddled.  (The rearmost 4 tracks in the 8 track fiddle yard store cars for use in future sessions).  Any locos that need their wheels cleaned - notably the LifeLike C Liners - will also be attended to at this point. The tag sorting bin and cups are visible at bottom.

Have a great weekend!

Nice work as usual guys.

It won't be this year but a vacation / model RR event trip to the Vancouver area is high on the to do list when my time becomes less scheduled.  Soon I hope.

I embarked on my own retro project this week:  Arnold tank cars.  More photos in the Weathering, Scratchbuilding section.

Just a quick picture showing what I am alternatively working on with the T-Trak Challenge. A modified Con-Cor SP C30-4 bay window caboose, a 3D printed SP C40-3 cupola caboose on an Atlas 1st gen underframe (there's my retro contribution) , a NP 30' wood caboose (old Robert Ray kit), and a SP MOW water car built from leftover IM parts. Next step is the paint shop. Assuming that the SP cabooses come out well, that will allow me to jettison the Traincat kits (I like working in wood or styrene , but brass kits drive me batty).

They're actually only 24'.

Nearing competition of what I've come to realize is my first railwire collaboration. 3D printed WM 66t hopper printed at home on my photon. A big thanks to all the guys in the photon thread for sharing your experiences, thanks to @wm3798 for the decal artwork, and thanks to @peteski for printing them up! All that's left is to put the stripes across the ladder that goes on the right side  :scared:

The hopper looks great Eric!  Glad to be part of the TRW collective.  :)

I know that these are really small, I suppose you could try free-hand brushing the white stripes across the ladder. Good luck!
