What is wrong with the triangular gusset?   I have seen several pictures with them like that, Diesel Spotter's Guide!

Looking at this, there is a flat bit at the bottom. It’s a four sided gusset, not a three sided one.

Those look pretty good! Pretty sure I'm going to have to get one if they come in SP (or undecorated).:D

C&O 5222 is a SW7:

The PRR loco is a SW9:

Yes, a “Phase V” NW2 lettered for C&O should be numbered 5060-5079. Hopefully the side sill gusset shape will be corrected.

I didn't even get that far...

PRR 9375 is a SW7 - note the single-beam headlight, rounded gussets, and 6 sets of upper and lower louvers (vs 8 single louvers)

Are there any "spotting features" of the first SW7 that distinguish it from the last NW2, that was built the day before on the same assembly line, the only major difference being the HP rating of the 567a engine installed? Are there radiator or louver distinctions? Battery box installation.  I have always been under the impression (probably from some 50 year old magazine article) that a late model NW2 and an early model SW7 were indistinguishable externally.

Most noticeable difference is the larger front radiator grill on the SW7

Triangular gusset is OK....for a SW9 or SW1200...

Front radiator matches SW7...and front cab windows on PRR matches late SW7/9/1200...

For the sake of comparison, here's a SW9 with twin-beam headlight, triangular gussets, and 8 louvers (and not "loggers" per my stupid auto-correct)

Not a NW2 or SW7
Indeed.

For reference, a LV NW2 and SW7.

It was listed as a SW7 were I got the picture. Really don't care!
